Alyxis Johnson

Hi, my name's Alyxis and welcome to my website! I'm a native of South Jersey, but currently live in the Philadelphia area. I studied at Drexel University and finished with a Master of Science degree in Information Systems, as well as Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology. My true passion is for graphic arts, design, and web development, so I also pursued and earned a Minor in Digital Media - Interactive Media with a web development track. I discovered my passion for design during my sophomore year of high school through taking a graphic art class that I loved. Designing t-shirts, logos, stickers, and anything creative is what I love to do. Some other interests of mine include playing tennis, traveling, and trying new restaurants!

Design & UX

I have designed user-interfaces for multiple websites as well as larger applications. In order to gain user insight on these designs, I conducted usability tests with clients and other participants. I am also very comfortable with designing and building wireframes in Adobe Photoshop.

Web Development

I have been using HTML, CSS, and jQuery for several years now and my skills and abilities continue to grow. I make an effort to stay up to date on each of these code bases in order to create and implement modern sites for users. I have experience using various frameworks such as Skeleton and Gridism.

Mobile & Responsive

Every site that I have created, or assisted with in the past 6 years has been responisve in order to accomodate for the growing rate at which users are accessing websites on-the-go on mobile devices. I have experience with the use of media queries as well as cross-browser/device testing.

MODX

MODX is an open source content management system (CMS), similar to WordPress. This CMS is extremely flexible as well as scalable in order to grow with rapidly changing needs. On my current team, I am one of the Subject Matter Experts (SME) for MODX, and really love this CMS.

Wordpress

WordPress is another popular content management system (CMS). While pursuing my Interactive Media Minor at Drexel, I was able to create, as well as assist in creating multiple sites within this CMS.

Valid & Accessible

Invalid code can often be the reason why certain plugins are not functioning properply, and is usually my first line of defense when debugging. Accessible websites are important because they give "access to information and interaction for many people with disabilities", while making the accessibility barriers to print, audio, and visual media much more easy to overcome^*.
